Our mission is to manage the maintenance and operations program for the state highways and roading networks in the Greater Wellington Region, ensuring high service standards for both the community and the infrastructure.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Operator eager to enhance their skills in Tractor Mower Operating. By joining our team at Wellington Transport Alliance, you will gain valuable experience in vegetation maintenance and control. You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks alongside our Open Spaces Management (OSM) Team while learning new skills throughout your tenure.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Operating tractor reach mowers, including ride-on mowers
- Maintaining vegetation along the Wellington State Highway network
- Spraying and weed control
- Operating weed eaters and scrub bars
- Conducting hand weeding tasks
This position requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week, although flexibility is essential as there may be instances where you will need to work night shifts or respond to after-hours callouts.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A Class 2 Licence, with WTR endorsements preferred
- Experience operating various machinery
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude towards the maintenance and care of equipment
- General vegetation control and horticultural experience
- Growsafe Qualification (desired)
- A commitment to health and safety in the workplace
