About the Role
We are currently seeking a Clinical Team Leader, also known internally as a Team Coach, to oversee our six-bed Residential Recovery Service for older adults facing mental health challenges. In this role, you will employ established clinical and recovery frameworks to ensure quality, compliance, and meaningful outcomes.
You will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of community support workers, fostering an occupation-focused, recovery-oriented approach throughout the service. Collaboration with health and community partners will be vital to provide seamless and connected support for older adults and their whānau.
This is a full-time position, operating Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, which includes participation in a shared after-hours on-call roster.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching, and supporting staff, encompassing recruitment, professional development, and performance management.
- Building meaningful partnerships both within the service and across primary, secondary, and community care.
- Acting as an exemplary Tangata Tiriti partner, promoting equity and cultural responsiveness.
- Fostering a positive team culture that values, supports, and engages all members.
- Promoting connection, inclusion, and independence for older adults living with mental health challenges and their whānau.
- Reporting to the Service and Relationship Manager while receiving coaching and support.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with leadership experience and a strong interest in mental health and the wellbeing of older adults. You will have an occupation-focused perspective and enjoy empowering teams to provide holistic, recovery-oriented support.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Current registration and an Annual Practicing Certificate as an Occupational Therapist with the OTBNZ.
- Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary clinical teams, ideally within an NGO or community-based setting.
- The ability to coach, supervise, and mentor clinicians and support staff.
- Demonstrated cultural competence, particularly in working with Māori and an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Clinical experience in mental health and addiction services.
- A current full New Zealand driver's license.
- A current New Zealand first aid certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
