About the Role
We are seeking an experienced New Zealand Registered Senior Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Critical Care team within the Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM). This is a permanent, full-time position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) based at Auckland City Hospital.
In this important role, you will work in one of the leading critical care units in New Zealand, providing care for a wide range of adult tertiary specialist areas, including liver and renal transplants, neurosurgery, trauma, and respiratory conditions. You will also have the opportunity to work across the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit, Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) ward, and Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
This position is ideal for an experienced physiotherapist who is eager to develop their leadership skills and enhance their clinical expertise in areas such as evidence-based practice, service development, and staff guidance. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a clinical caseload while providing day-to-day coordination and leadership for a small team.
- Offering comprehensive services to our DCCM patients and outreach services to the ward.
- Actively participating in quality improvement initiatives and staff development.
- Collaborating with a variety of professional groups in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Participating in our weekend and on-call roster.

About the Team/Service/Location
Our team is composed of passionate and supportive physiotherapists who are dedicated to improving the health outcomes and quality of life for the communities we serve. We are a team of 91.2 FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:
- New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- A minimum of six years of clinical experience, with significant exposure to critical care settings.
- Experience in tracheostomy weaning as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A flexible and proactive approach to your work.
- Experience in supporting and teaching staff and students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to provide culturally safe care in an acute hospital environment.
