About the Role
We are currently seeking a Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will assist with various farm tasks, including milking, calving, feeding stock, effluent management, spraying, and fencing. Your contributions will be vital to our daily operations, helping us achieve our production and animal welfare goals.
We provide comprehensive training and support to help you develop your skills. We encourage initiative and value teamwork, and you will have the opportunity to mentor and support newer team members. This role is perfect for individuals who have a strong work ethic and a passion for farming, and who are eager to be part of a culture that emphasizes safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
The Farm
Our farm spans 400 effective hectares and milks 950 cows using a 60-bale rotary system. We also rear heifer replacement calves. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from Oxford and 25 minutes from Rangiora, our location offers access to a variety of recreational activities.
About You
We are looking for candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to our team’s success. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in a similar dairy farming role or a strong interest in developing your skills in this area
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A proactive attitude, demonstrating initiative and a commitment to animal welfare and health and safety
- The ability to provide coaching and support to junior or new staff as needed
- A current New Zealand restricted or full driver’s license
