About the Role We are currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician / Pre-Analytical Medical Laboratory Technician (Phlebotomist) for a permanent full-time position at Dargaville Hospital. This role involves working 40 hours per week, focusing on the safe and efficient collection of blood and other specimens as requested by authorized medical referrers. Our aim is to achieve the best health outcomes for our patients, and we believe that starts with expecting the best from ourselves. As part of our self-motivated Laboratory team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Pathology Service, which is dedicated to patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Assisting in the receipt, documentation, registration, processing, testing, and reporting of all specimens, including those referred to other laboratories, in accordance with authorized policies and protocols. - Performing other technical and operational duties expected of a Medical Laboratory Technician to ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pathology Service. About You We are looking for candidates who possess either a Qualified Phlebotomist Technician (QPT) or a Medical Laboratory Technician (QMLT) qualification. The ideal candidate will have: - Work experience as a phlebotomist. - A proven ability to quickly learn new knowledge and skills. - A basic understanding of health, illness, and infection prevention. - Familiarity with filing systems. - Previous experience within a healthcare setting. While not essential, recent phlebotomy experience in a Medical Laboratory is highly desirable.
