About the Role
As a Warehouse Picker/Packer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our warehouse stock is efficiently distributed to over 200 stores across the South Island. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and completing product orders, which involves loading, packing, wrapping, labeling, and shipping.
- Engaging in bulk repetitive picking, which may require heavy lifting of items weighing up to 25kg.
- Operating machinery and electric pallet jacks to facilitate stock movement.
- Adhering to health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Meeting daily targets to contribute to our mission of feeding the South Island.
The starting pay rate for this position is $26.79 per hour, which is dependent on experience. We also provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and conduct a review of your hourly rate after six months of employment.
We have various shifts available, primarily focusing on the following patterns:
Part Time:
- Friday & Sunday: 2:15 PM - 10:45 PM (16 hours)
- Friday & Sunday: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM (16 hours)
- Friday & Saturday: 2:15 PM - 10:45 PM (16 hours)
Full Time:
- Friday to Monday: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM (40 hours)
- Friday to Monday: 7:00 AM - 5:50 PM (40 hours)
Successful applicants will undergo five days of paid training during their first week, which will take place from Monday to Friday. Our Storeperson roles serve as an excellent starting point for your career with Foodstuffs, with many team members progressing into various roles throughout our organization.

About You
This role requires physical stamina, as much of your shift will involve being on your feet and lifting heavy cartons. The ability to comfortably lift up to 25kg is essential. If you possess the following qualities, we would be excited to hear from you:
- Punctual and reliable
- Willing to engage in the work with enthusiasm
- Have reliable transportation to and from work
- Able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
While having a forklift license or experience in a similar role would be advantageous, it is not a requirement.
