About the Company
Tradestaff Global is excited to invite expressions of interest from licensed and experienced Excavator Operators for an extraordinary opportunity at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the Summer of 2025/26. This unique role will offer you the chance to work in one of the most isolated yet breathtaking locations in the world.
About the Role
We are looking for dedicated individuals who are ready to embrace the challenges of working in a remote environment. Deployments are anticipated to take place from approximately October 2025 to March 2026. Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a WTR and Class 2 License
- Have proven experience operating large excavators in civil, roading, or construction projects
- Provide an up-to-date CV that details machine sizes, brands, duration of operation, and examples of projects you have worked on
Please note that due to travel restrictions, we can only accept applications from New Zealand and US citizens who are currently living and working in New Zealand.
Additional requirements include:
- Willingness to receive Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations
- Ability to commit to long hours, working six days a week
- Flexibility with start dates, which are contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, fulfilling notice periods, and availability of ice flights
- Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- A clean criminal record
- Patience during the lengthy application process
- Willingness to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, with Tradestaff covering testing and flights from outside the Bay of Plenty
Benefits
In return for your hard work, we offer a competitive package that includes:
- Flights provided from any major New Zealand airport
- Food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance included
- A pay rate of $73.64 per hour, on a contract basis, paid fortnightly in NZD for 54 hours a week
- All necessary personal protective equipment supplied
