About the Role
As a Duty Manager at Kajiken, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of our restaurant. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that our guests receive exceptional service while maintaining high standards in both food quality and service delivery. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with a deep appreciation for Asian cuisine and culture.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of our restaurant staff, which includes servers, chefs, and kitchen assistants, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
You will manage and optimize resources such as staffing levels, inventory, and equipment to meet our business objectives and customer demands. It is essential that you ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and licensing requirements at all times.
Training and mentoring staff on customer service protocols, food preparation techniques, and restaurant policies will be a significant part of your duties. You will also monitor the quality of food products, presentation, and service delivery to maintain our reputation for excellence.
Handling customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner is crucial, as you will strive to resolve issues to the satisfaction of our guests. Additionally, you will assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies to attract and retain customers, including special events and menu offerings.
Managing reservation systems, seating arrangements, and waitlist management will be part of your responsibilities to optimize table turnover and enhance guest satisfaction. Collaboration with the restaurant manager, head chef, and other management team members will be necessary for updating the menu and implementing operational policies and procedures.
You will also conduct regular inspections of the restaurant premises, equipment, and facilities to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and compliance with hygiene standards.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in the hospitality industry or a qualification at NZQF Level 5 or higher. While no specific major is required, candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher will also be considered.
We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and leadership skills, who can motivate and inspire a diverse team. The ability to make sound decisions and solve problems in high-pressure situations is essential. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is necessary due to the nature of the hospitality industry.
