About the Role We are currently seeking a dedicated Interventional Radiology (IR) nurse to join our team at Waikato Hospital. This permanent part-time position involves working 64 hours per fortnight in a dynamic and hands-on environment. As an IR nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering compassionate care to patients, many of whom remain conscious during procedures. Your responsibilities will include direct patient support, medication management, and procedural assistance, ensuring a calm and positive experience for patients throughout their treatment. Our department operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with all team members required to participate in an on-call service for after-hours cases, including weekends. We are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about Interventional Radiology, eager to learn, and committed to collaborative teamwork. Key Responsibilities - Ensure patient safety and monitoring during procedures - Provide procedural sedation - Function as a scrub nurse and in a circulating role - Collaborate closely with doctors and other medical professionals The salary for this position will be determined based on experience and will align with the Nursing and Midwifery Collective Agreement. About the Team/Service Our nursing and multidisciplinary team is dynamic, flexible, and highly supportive. We work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the region. The Interventional Radiology department supports all medical specialties and performs a wide array of minimally invasive procedures guided by advanced imaging technologies such as X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT. Most procedures are conducted with patients awake or under light sedation, making compassionate, hands-on care an essential part of our approach. About You To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience: - A minimum of two years of nursing experience in a tertiary hospital, with experience in theatre or acute care being an asset - Excellent communication and time management skills - A strong focus on quality patient care - The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and technically complex environment - Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster - An enthusiastic, highly motivated, and dynamic approach to nursing - A current NZ Nursing Registration and readiness to start immediately Working at Health New Zealand At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we embrace a diverse and inclusive workforce, which enables us to better understand and serve our community.
