About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Medical Specialties and Neurosciences team at Christchurch Hospital. This part-time, permanent position requires 44 hours of work per fortnight (0.55 FTE), with the potential for increased hours in the future.
In this role, you will work across the specialty areas of oncology/haematology and gastroenterology, while also contributing to our General Medical Service. Our team collaborates closely to assess and manage a diverse range of presentations in fields such as neurology, neurosurgery, acute assessment, acute stroke, vascular, cardiology, and nephrology.
You will play a key role in the education and training of 4th-year undergraduate students and junior rotational staff. A confident and enthusiastic clinical practice, along with a collaborative communication style, will be essential. Additionally, participation in weekend and on-call rosters will be required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting expert assessments and implementing appropriate interventions
- Providing advice or referrals to other services as needed
- Supervising and mentoring rotational staff and final-year physiotherapy students
- Contributing to service improvement initiatives
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in oncology/haematology (preferred)
- A broad range of experience, ideally including respiratory, neurology, and general medicine
- A strong ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Enthusiasm and confidence in sharing knowledge across your discipline
- A working knowledge of quality improvement processes
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to starting your learning journey in these areas
