The Kelvin Hotel, a 3.5-star establishment with 61 rooms, is situated in the heart of Invercargill. Our amenities include the Level One Restaurant and Bar, the Editor's Cut Sports Bar, and various function areas that cater to our guests' diverse needs.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Duty Manager to work alongside our Hotel Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the Kelvin Hotel and its associated areas. This full-time position requires a flexible schedule, with shifts that may include days, nights, and weekends.
In this role, you will assist the Hotel Manager in supervising and training staff while aiming to achieve budgeted profitability in all areas of hotel operations. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, security, hygiene, and compliance with legal requirements, including the Sale & Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry.
- A current General Manager’s License or the ability to obtain one.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals while managing external relationships.
- The capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team, providing clear direction and supervision.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and train staff while ensuring adherence to hotel policies and procedures.
- Effective problem-solving abilities, allowing for prompt and efficient resolution of issues.
- A genuine desire to advance your career in the hospitality industry.
- A professional appearance, positive attitude, and adaptability.
