Health New Zealand, Nelson Marlborough is seeking experienced Paediatricians to join our team at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim. About the Role
We are offering a permanent position at 0.6FTE (48 hours every fortnight) with a 1:4 on-call commitment. The successful candidate will deliver quality healthcare services for children from birth to early adolescence in the Marlborough region. You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team, which includes three other experienced General Paediatricians, as well as a team of Resident Medical Officers, midwives, and nurses.
In this role, you will participate in the on-call roster covering acute general paediatrics, a Special Care Bay Unit (for patients from 34 weeks gestation), and various outpatient services. You will also have the opportunity to supervise and teach medical students, junior doctors, and nursing/midwifery colleagues. This position offers a unique chance to achieve a work/life balance while living in one of New Zealand's most desirable regions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Medical expertise and experience suitable for an acute secondary care hospital, contributing to the advanced care of acute paediatric inpatients and a broad spectrum of general paediatric outpatients.
- General Paediatric and Neonatal experience, along with special interests that complement our current paediatric team. A focus on child development and behavior would be highly valued.
- Qualifications necessary to join the Paediatric MEDSAC team.
- Current Advanced Paediatric Life Support certification or equivalent.
- Eligibility for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational scope of Paediatrics with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- A collaborative approach to foster a cohesive team culture characterized by openness, humor, and respect across disciplines.
- A commitment to ongoing medical education and professional development.

The salary for this position will be based on the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement, reflecting your skills, experience, and vocational registration in New Zealand. In addition to your salary, you will receive:
