About the Role
We are currently seeking two Trainee Transmission Line Mechanics to join our Transmission Lines Services Division. This full-time, permanent role guarantees a minimum of 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday, with the possibility of participating in a standby roster.
In this exciting position, you will provide technical services that have a meaningful impact. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying electrical systems in preparation for work
- Climbing and working on electricity network structures
- Operating lines machinery, plants, and equipment within an electricity network environment
- Assessing the condition of electricity lines
- Applying and removing earths from overhead electric line conductors
- Developing work plans for the construction and servicing of overhead electricity lines and equipment
- Jointing overhead conductors within the electricity network
- Replacing load-bearing pole hardware in networks up to 110 kV
- Overhauling tower structure hardware in networks up to 220 kV
- Understanding and implementing our health and safety policies, while taking care of your own safety and that of others
- Leading by example in health and safety practices and participating in worker engagement initiatives
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A minimum of NZQA Level 1
- An understanding of industry safety requirements
- Previous experience and a strong aptitude for outdoor work
- Flexibility in dealing with varying weather, resources, materials, and other conditions
- A full New Zealand Class 1 driver's license
