About the Role
We are currently seeking a Chef to join our team at one of the prestigious Air New Zealand Lounges located in Auckland International Airport. In this role, you will have the opportunity to prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes that meet the expectations of discerning travellers. You will work closely with the kitchen team to uphold food safety standards while delivering exceptional service. This is a Casual position, with hours based on business needs, and successful candidates must be available to work on weekends.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes, including meat, seafood, vegetables, and baked goods.
- Maintaining kitchen hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Receiving, storing, and rotating supplies while assisting with stock control and ordering.
- Applying catering control principles to minimize waste and maintain portion control.
- Collaborating with colleagues and providing on-the-job coaching when required.
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery or equivalent, along with experience in a similar role.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude.
- Physical fitness, reliability, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism and teamwork.
- A Police Clearance is required; NZQA Food Handling Certificate (Units 167 & 168) is preferred.
