About the Role
We are currently seeking skilled diesel technicians to join our team in a permanent, full-time capacity. This position offers a minimum of 40 hours per week, operating Monday through Friday, with opportunities for Saturday work as needed. We offer competitive remuneration ranging from $30 to $50 per hour, depending on experience. The role is based in Napier.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will be responsible for performing service and repairs in a timely manner while adhering to the highest quality standards, following manufacturer guidelines, and complying with trade and legislative requirements.
You will focus on accurate diagnosis and repair practices to minimize the need for rework. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is essential, as is presenting a professional image to our customers and colleagues.
You will be responsible for the care and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment, ensuring they are stored correctly. Clear and concise documentation of each job completed is essential, detailing all actions taken to support accurate invoice generation.
Additionally, you will record all materials used during repairs and ensure that working times are logged accurately for payroll and customer billing purposes. You may also be asked to perform other duties as reasonably requested by management.
The Successful Applicant Will
- Possess at least 3 years of relevant and verifiable experience in the field
- Hold a Trade Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 4) or an equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential)
- Have a current Drivers License for Classes 2 – 5 or be willing to obtain it
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet operational demands, including the potential for shift work and overnight travel
- Show a strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Be able to pass a workplace medical exam, including drug and alcohol testing
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
