About the Role
We are seeking a Patient Support Security Worker for a casual position at Wairau Hospital. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring a welcoming and safe environment within the Emergency Department. At times, you may be required to assist in other departments and wards to maintain safety for both patients and staff.
As this is a casual role, there are no guaranteed hours of work. However, the more flexible your availability, the more shifts you will be offered. Please note that this position does not require on-call duties. Candidates must be eligible to work in New Zealand or possess a valid New Zealand visa at the time of application.
About the Team/Service/Location
You will be joining a supportive team of three that is dedicated to creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere at Wairau Hospital. For more information about living and working in Blenheim, please visit our website.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are rational and calm under pressure, with the ability to de-escalate difficult situations and foster a safe, therapeutic environment. You should be able to relate well to patients and their visitors, and work collaboratively with the clinical team while following directions.
While previous experience in security or a related field is preferred, it is not essential as training will be provided. Additionally, you should possess:
- Empathy and a non-judgmental attitude towards patients and the public
- The ability to connect with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Awareness of issues that may affect patient welfare and the ability to communicate these effectively
- A good level of physical fitness and mobility
