About the Role
We are hiring Steel Fixers for full-time, permanent positions with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Compensation ranges from $26.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on experience. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools for the job. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in structural reinforcement who are willing to travel or relocate as needed, as site locations will vary based on project demand.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Interpreting engineering plans and drawings to cut, bend, and place steel bars and mesh.
- Tying rebar using appropriate techniques for various reinforcement systems.
- Placing and securing steel within formwork prior to concrete pours.
- Complying with health, safety, and quality standards on-site.
- Working efficiently as part of a large construction team under tight deadlines.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates should have:
- A minimum of three years of experience in steel fixing or reinforcing steel, either in New Zealand or overseas.
- The ability to read and work from technical drawings.
- Strong physical fitness and a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in commercial, civil, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Relevant trade experience or qualifications will be advantageous.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this role is listed in Southland, we are actively recruiting for positions throughout all regions of New Zealand based on project needs. This includes the following areas:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
