About the Role We are excited to offer an opportunity for experienced and qualified mental health support workers, or support workers with experience in assisting individuals with challenging behaviors, to join our team in Waikato. We are looking for dedicated team members to fill permanent part-time positions in Hamilton and the surrounding areas, including Te Kauwhata, Huntly, Te Kuiti, and Pokeno. Support work is not just a job; it is a rewarding and empathetic journey that allows you to provide invaluable assistance to those in need. Your role will involve working closely with our Service Users to enhance their daily lives and help them achieve their goals. Responsibilities may include: - Providing support to Service Users with their daily tasks - Assisting with complex personal care needs - Supporting household management and meal preparation - Facilitating exercise programs - Helping Service Users access the community - Assisting with bowel, bladder, and catheter care - Managing mobility and transfers using hoists and manual handling techniques - Supporting medication management - Contributing to the overall safety and well-being of Service Users - Aiding Service Users in achieving positive outcomes in their lives About You We are seeking individuals who are calm, confident, and resilient, with a deep understanding of the challenges our Service Users face. The role of a support worker is filled with responsibilities that can be both challenging and fulfilling. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of a team that enables individuals to live their best lives in the community. Candidate Pre-Requisites: - A supportive mindset to help Service Users achieve their independent living goals - Prior personal care experience is preferred - Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries or traumatic brain injuries - A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is advantageous, though we welcome those seeking to enter the healthcare sector, as comprehensive training can be provided - Access to your own vehicle and a Full New Zealand Driver's License is essential - Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including AM, PM, and weekend shifts - Legal right to work in New Zealand is required Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time We offer a range of employment opportunities, including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process. The hours of work may vary based on the specific needs of the individuals we support, and your preferred hours can be discussed during the hiring process. Benefits We offer competitive pay, ranging from $24.13 to $30.03 per hour, based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017, which aligns hourly rates with healthcare qualifications.
