About the Role
We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our team at Strata Lounge, one of Auckland Airport's most exclusive lounges. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food while ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations. You will also supervise the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and contribute to menu development and event catering. This is a permanent, full-time position with shifts scheduled for the afternoon and evening across seven days of the week.
Your Responsibilities
In your role as Sous Chef, you will:
- Supervise kitchen operations and staff in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Prepare, cook, and present meals to high standards, including buffet and event catering.
- Manage stock control, ordering, and storage of kitchen supplies.
- Maintain hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas.
- Develop menus that cater to diverse dietary and cultural needs.
About You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- An NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery (or equivalent) with experience in a similar environment.
- A proven ability to supervise and coach kitchen staff effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a flexible, team-oriented mindset.
- Physical fitness, reliability, and a commitment to high hygiene standards.
- The capability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
