Our Eurofins Food and Water Testing division in New Zealand offers a wide array of high-quality testing services for food, water, plants, soil, and fertilizers. With over 359 dedicated staff, we operate laboratories in key cities including Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Tauranga, serving primarily the New Zealand market.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Sampling Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting water and environmental samples from the Wellington region and its surroundings. This includes various sites such as environmental monitoring locations, trade waste areas, domestic supply taps, pump houses, reservoirs, rivers, and waste treatment plants.
You will also liaise with customers to coordinate their sampling requirements, and we expect you to possess the skills necessary to work independently. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing the daily sampling program efficiently to minimize travel distance.
- Ensuring all interactions with the public and clients are courteous, professional, and prompt.
- Collecting samples while preventing contamination and performing on-site measurements as needed.
- Accurately recording details related to sampling times, locations, and measurements.
- Adhering to our Quality and Procedures manuals.
- Processing samples within the specified time and temperature limits according to NZ Drinking Water Standards and relevant regulations.
- Complying with our Health and Safety procedures and reporting any equipment or workflow issues to the Sampling Manager.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and undertaking additional tasks as requested while embracing our Lean Principles.
This position requires availability to work from Wednesday to Sunday.
Requirements
- A strong attention to detail and proficient computer skills are essential.
- A tertiary degree in a science-related field is required.
- A current full NZ driver’s license is mandatory.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills are expected.
- The candidate must be available to work weekends.
- A desire for continuous learning and improvement is essential.
