About the Company
At Horizons Regional Council, we are dedicated to enhancing and protecting our environment across a vast region that spans over 22,200 square kilometers. Our work supports the community in managing essential resources such as land, air, and water. We also play a vital role in public transport and emergency management. Our goal is to foster a healthy environment where both the community and our staff can thrive.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our Animal Pests Team within the Catchment Operations Group as a Regional Response Supervisor. This is a permanent, full-time position. While we prefer the role to be based at our Marton Offices, we are open to considering candidates who would like to work from our Kairanga Offices.
In this role, you will primarily focus on planning and delivering vertebrate pest control in the Horowhenua and Manawatu districts. You will be responsible for the daily supervision and training of field staff, as well as ensuring quality control and effective collection and storage of operational data. We expect you to have direct industry experience in pest animal control, along with strong communication, relationship management, and time management skills. Proficiency in operating relevant machinery, particularly Quads, is essential.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be adept at managing customer expectations, leading projects, and providing technical advice and support. You will also need to liaise with and manage a variety of internal and external customers effectively. A positive and friendly attitude is crucial for success in this role. Familiarity with Horizons’ major work programs and knowledge of local government processes and procedures would be advantageous.
Benefits
Joining our team means embarking on a rewarding career with numerous opportunities for personal and professional development in a positive and supportive work environment. We prioritize employee health and wellness through initiatives such as offering your birthday off, a wellness day, life insurance for all permanent staff, and five weeks of leave after two years of service.
We promote a flexible and family-friendly work environment and encourage ongoing development, allowing you to grow, specialize, or diversify your skills. Together, we strive for a better environment across our region while fostering a supportive and social workplace culture.
Applications close at 5 PM on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
