About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Clinical Midwife Manager to join our Maternity North team. This leadership position offers a unique opportunity for a passionate midwife who is committed to delivering high-quality maternity care and achieving the best outcomes for women and their whānau.
In this role, you will provide expert clinical leadership and oversight, ensuring the effective daily management of our maternity services. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, offering support to midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants to deliver exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the maternity ward team to ensure safe and high-quality maternity care.
- Mentor and support midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in their clinical practice and professional growth.
- Oversee bed management, staffing allocation, and resource planning in conjunction with Midwifery Managers.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand Midwifery and Ministry of Health standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement, auditing, and risk management.
- Collaborate with Lead Maternity Carers and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive maternity care.
- Actively advocate for Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in maternity care, striving for equitable health outcomes for Māori women and their whānau.
- Support the implementation of health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Registration as a New Zealand Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- A minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience in a secondary or tertiary birthing facility.
- A solid understanding of the New Zealand Maternity Model of Care and Section 88.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to effectively lead and coordinate a team.
