You will support the Farm Business Manager and serve as a senior leader, ensuring that day-to-day farm performance aligns with our long-term goals. You will oversee a team of six individuals and manage 3,900 hectares of sheep and beef operations, which is part of an integrated 85,000 stock unit farm system. Your focus will be on stock performance, pasture management, team development, and environmental excellence, empowering you to effect positive changes and mentor staff while influencing the future direction of our high-performing station. Key Responsibilities - Lead daily farm operations and implement established stock policies and breeding targets. - Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making efforts. - Ensure effective pasture and feed planning throughout the season. - Maintain accurate data using systems such as Farmax and FarmIQ. - Coach and develop operational staff to ensure high performance and engagement. - Uphold the highest standards of animal health, welfare, and environmental practices. The Farm Rangitaiki Station is Pāmu’s second-largest farm and ranks as New Zealand’s third-largest, covering 8,317 hectares. Located near Taupō, the station boasts flat to rolling terrain at elevations of 650–900 meters above sea level. While winters can be long, the explosive spring growth offers significant pasture potential. Our full team of 22 skilled and passionate staff members collaborates effectively across all farm systems. About You We are looking for an experienced farm leader who can effectively balance people management, on-farm operations, and forward-thinking strategy. You are passionate about achieving performance in people, livestock, and land, and you approach complex challenges with a calm, solutions-focused mindset. To be successful in this role, you will have: - Proven leadership experience in large-scale livestock farming, particularly with sheep and beef. - Strong skills in pasture and feed budgeting, with a capacity to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. - A track record of achieving breeding and production targets within a commercial farm system. - A coaching mindset and a collaborative leadership style. - Strong data literacy and confidence in using farm management systems such as Farmax and FarmIQ. - A solid understanding of animal health, welfare, environmental standards, and health and safety regulations. - A full New Zealand driver’s licence and a capable team of working dogs. Preferred qualifications include: - Additional credentials in Rural Staff Management or Livestock Production. - Familiarity with sheep and beef farming and/or experience working across multi-species systems.
