About the Role
We are excited to announce an opening for a Social Worker within our inpatient social work team at Gisborne Hospital in Tairawhiti. In this role, you will join a dynamic social work team focused on whanau-centered care and health equity. As a Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting patients and their families as they navigate various psychosocial challenges in both hospital and community settings.
Your work will involve a range of activities, including crisis intervention, discharge planning, and connecting clients with local iwi and community services. Each day will offer new and varied experiences that contribute to meaningful outcomes for those we serve.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our social work team is diverse and extends across various departments, including inpatient wards, ICU, Planet Sunshine, Emergency, Tui te Ora (Long-term conditions), and Oncology. You will collaborate with passionate health professionals who prioritize teamwork, cultural safety, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. About You
We are looking for a qualified Social Worker who possesses the following skills and attributes:
- Proficient in conducting psychosocial assessments and developing tailored intervention plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with clients, whanau, and multidisciplinary teams.
- A genuine passion for reducing health disparities and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.
- The ability to work respectfully and effectively with Māori, Pacific peoples, and diverse communities while applying the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A recognized Social Work Degree.
- Registration with the NZ Social Workers Registration Board, along with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
