About the Role We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in Gisborne, New Zealand. In this role, you will engage in diverse clinical work and have the unique opportunity to collaborate with Māori communities. Your contributions will help us achieve positive outcomes for whānau and address health inequities. This position requires generalist psychiatrist skills, as participation in an after-hours on-call roster is necessary. However, you will be well-supported by experienced frontline clinical staff and a cultural team. About the Team/Service/Location Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti Mental Health and Addiction Services, Te Ara Maioha, offers various opportunities for specialized or generalist Consultant Psychiatry across General Adult, Mental Health Services for Older People, and Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. We are currently experiencing a period of growth, thanks to new funding aimed at developing service models and facilities that better serve our local community. As part of our dynamic healthcare team, you will be working in Tairawhiti, a region with a population of around 50,000 on the beautiful East Coast of the North Island. Gisborne is a welcoming coastal city known for its sunny climate and stunning beaches, making it an ideal place to live and work. About You To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience: - Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or an equivalent qualification - Registration or eligibility for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand - Broad clinical experience in Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatry - The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team - A commitment to quality and safety in clinical practice - A current driver's license valid in New Zealand As part of your application for New Zealand medical registration, you will need to provide source verification of your qualifications.
