About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our rural health team on the stunning West Coast of New Zealand. This casual position offers a rewarding and diverse opportunity where you will apply your nursing expertise, critical thinking, and clinical judgement to deliver safe, person- and whanau-centred care across a range of medical and surgical cases.
As part of a small yet highly skilled team, you will have the chance to work both independently and collaboratively. You will support patients and their families through complex health journeys while exemplifying excellence in rural nursing care. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Work across various clinical contexts in rural practice.
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, implement and evaluate care plans, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions.
- Support and guide Enrolled Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and others in their delivery of care.
- Contribute to service development and the integration of care, in alignment with Te Whatu Ora West Coast's model of care.
- Ensure professional, ethical, and culturally safe practices, with a strong commitment to achieving equity of outcomes for Maori and Pacific peoples.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Essential:
- New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate, without any conditions that would impede your ability to fulfill the role.
- Demonstrated ability to work within your scope of practice, applying evidence-based knowledge and clinical judgement.
- Completion of, or a commitment to undertake, cultural competency training.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence, with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
- Proficiency in computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office suite.
- Confidence and ability to work with children.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in medical, surgical, or rehabilitation nursing.
- A current Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio.
