About the Role
We are seeking a Nurse Educator to join our Workforce Development team on a part-time, fixed-term basis through February 5, 2026, to March 2, 2027, working 16 hours per week. The Nurse Educator will serve as a recognized nursing leader for Te Tai o Poutini, functioning at an advanced clinical practice level to promote nursing excellence within our health services.
In this role, you will report to the Nurse Director of Workforce Development and collaborate closely with Nurse Managers and the Quality Patient Safety team, covering the entire region. You will work alongside other Nurse Educators, a Clinical Coach, and the wider Workforce Development team to provide nursing leadership in clinical practice. Your responsibilities will include enabling evidence-based nursing care, serving as a resource for nursing staff, and facilitating educational opportunities.
You will lead nursing education initiatives and promote nursing research and evidence-based practice across Te Tai o Poutini. Additionally, you will engage with individuals aspiring to enter the nursing profession and support undergraduate students throughout their educational journey. Your work will involve preparing, supporting, and enabling the nursing workforce by developing, delivering, and evaluating education and training programs aligned with regulatory standards.
You will also support teams in implementing and embedding the Fundamentals of Care Programme into practice, collaborate with Nurse Managers in our Centralised Recruitment process, and facilitate orientation programs for new staff.
About You
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with extensive, recent clinical and educational experience. Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a certificate in adult teaching and/or a postgraduate qualification. Experience in mentoring, precepting, or holding a senior nursing role is essential.
Strong interpersonal skills and a positive approach to stakeholder engagement are crucial for success in this position. You will work across various areas to promote excellence and enhance nursing practice, contributing to the development of knowledge and skills for our nursing staff.
