We are currently seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator Welder to join our team and support various projects across the Southland region and beyond.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for a range of activities related to the fabrication, welding, and assembly of metal structures and products. Your expertise will contribute to the creation and repair of essential components, and you may be required to travel to different locations throughout the country to assist with our projects. Your primary duties will include:
- Fabricating, installing, and repairing metal products such as vents, handrails, boilers, aircraft and boat parts, as well as beams and girders for construction projects.
- Preparing metal for fabrication and interpreting engineering blueprints.
- Measuring and marking cutting and bending lines.
- Setting up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears.
- Welding metal pieces together using techniques such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding.
- Double-checking design specifications before commencing cutting work.
- Fabricating and constructing metal components.
- Grinding and finishing completed products.
- Inspecting finished products for defects and ensuring that all welds, joints, and parts meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Performing other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- A minimum of 2.5 years of relevant experience or a relevant qualification.
- A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic.
- The flexibility to work in various locations across the country.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices on-site.

Benefits
We offer competitive pay rates ranging from $30.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Location
This position may require you to work in various locations throughout New Zealand, including Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
This is a permanent, full-time role, and applicants must be New Zealand Citizens/Residents or hold a valid New Zealand work visa.
