    About the Company Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO) is a Charitable Trust established in 1906. Our elder care services are provided through Enliven, where we focus on creating elder-centered communities that promote companionship, meaningful activities, purpose, and enjoyment in life. Iona, located in Oamaru—an area renowned for its rich history and heritage—provides care for 79 residents at both hospital and rest home levels. About the Role We are seeking Health Care Assistants to join our team at Iona on a fixed-term, part-time basis, covering parental leave from early August 2025 to late February 2026. There are two positions available, each offering a unique schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of older individuals. In this role, you will utilize your practical skills and compassion to support residents with essential daily activities, including personal care, assistance during mealtimes, and other general care duties. While the work can be demanding, it is highly rewarding to serve individuals who appreciate your help and contribute to a positive work environment. Please indicate in your cover letter which position you are interested in: Position 01: - Fixed-term cover for parental leave from 4 August 2025 to 28 February 2026 (TBC) - Hours: 35 hours per fortnight - Schedule: - Week One: 5 hours per day, 16:30 – 22:00 on Monday, Thursday, and Friday - Week Two: 5 hours per day, 16:30 – 22:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday Position 02: - Fixed-term cover for parental leave from 1 August 2025 to 25 February 2026 (TBC) - Hours: 38.5 hours per fortnight (7 shifts per fortnight) - Schedule: - Week One: 5.5 hours per day, 07:30 – 13:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday - Week Two: 5.5 hours per day, 07:30 – 13:30 on Monday, Thursday, and Friday Requirements We are looking for candidates who are empathetic, compassionate, and patient. The ideal applicant will thrive in a team setting, enjoy working with older adults, and be physically fit. A sense of humor and enthusiasm are also essential. While experience in an aged care environment is preferred, it is not mandatory, as we provide comprehensive training. A Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
