About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Service Foreman to join our service team at our Masterton branch. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in monitoring productivity within the workshop. Your responsibilities will include scheduling jobs for technicians, ensuring they have all necessary resources to work effectively, quoting workshop repairs, and optimizing workshop space and resources to meet customer needs. You will work collaboratively with the Service Manager to ensure seamless field and workshop operations. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor apprentices, providing them with the support and guidance needed to enhance their skills.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees based on their skills and knowledge.
- Appraising repair orders entering the Service Department and participating in repairs as needed.
- Directing and assisting in diagnosing machine problems for technicians and apprentices.
- Inspecting and repairing all special tools while recommending new tooling as necessary.
- Advising the Service Manager or Service Location Manager of any customer complaints.
- Coordinating and scheduling in-house technician training.
- Assisting the Service Manager or Service Location Manager with quarterly safety meetings.
- Potentially filling in for the Service Manager or Service Location Manager in their absence.
- Arranging for and participating in the reconditioning of used equipment and the setup of new equipment.
- Providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager or Service Location Manager.
To be considered for this position, you will need the following:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Service Technician.
- The ability to lead and guide others.
- Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with individuals and groups.
- Proficiency with standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- A forklift license is preferred.
