About the Role
We are seeking a Health Care Assistant for a permanent, part-time position (0.6 FTE) at the Bay of Islands Hospital. In this role, you will work 24 hours per week in our busy Emergency Department and General Ward, under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse. You will assist patients with their daily activities, comfort, and safety needs, while also performing delegated patient care tasks. Additionally, you will help maintain a clean, organized environment through housekeeping duties.
This position involves a shift roster that spans from Monday to Sunday.
About the Team/Service/Location
Bay of Islands Hospital, located in Kawakawa, serves the communities of the Bay of Islands and the Mid North. As a 20-bed facility, we provide comprehensive medical and pediatric services, alongside a robust community health service.

About You
We are ideally looking for Health Care Assistants with prior experience in an acute hospital setting. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to be patient, flexible, and adaptable. You should be comfortable working under the direction of others and appreciate a role that offers variety.
We value competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or at least a commitment to begin this learning journey. Experience with projects or initiatives that support the principles of Te Tiriti and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare settings is also desirable.
