About the Company Tradestaff Global is a leading recruitment agency specializing in connecting skilled tradespeople with unique job opportunities. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and licensed electricians with commercial experience for an exciting assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the Summer of 2025/26. About the Role This role offers a unique experience in one of the most isolated yet beautiful locations on Earth. We anticipate deployments will commence in approximately October 2025 and continue through March 2026. The work environment is demanding and requires hard-working team players who are eager to contribute, perform essential tasks, and support one another. The primary focus of the role will be on commercial electrical work, including tasks related to medium voltage systems. Candidates with experience in fabricating metal conduit, data cabling, security systems, and fire alarms will have a distinct advantage. Comfort in reading electrical schematics and pulling wires is essential. A current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence is required. We encourage applicants to highlight any relevant experience in the following areas in their CV: - UPS battery systems or backup generator systems - Telecoms - Security system installation - Switchgear and transformer wiring - Fire alarms Requirements Please note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with New Zealand or US passports, who are currently and permanently residing and working in New Zealand, are eligible to apply. In addition to citizenship requirements, candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. These roles are not 'fly in, fly out' positions; you will be stationed on the ice for an extended period, working long hours for six days a week. Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, completing your notice period, and ice flight availability. A pre-employment drug and alcohol test is mandatory. A Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence and a clean criminal record are also required. We will cover the costs of testing and flights for those traveling from outside the Bay of Plenty. Benefits In this role, we offer a competitive hourly rate of $66.11, with contracts paid fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for a total of 54 hours per week. We also provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
