About the Role We are currently seeking a confident and hands-on Pest Control Technician to join our high-performing team in Nelson. If you are an outdoor enthusiast who thrives on independence, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional customer service, this opportunity is for you. In this full-time position, you will play a vital role in safeguarding homes, businesses, and communities through effective, proactive pest solutions. The role involves working Monday to Friday, with rotating weekend shifts and flexible start times. You will manage a diverse portfolio of clients throughout Nelson, with regular travel to Motueka to keep your work varied and engaging. Key Responsibilities You will begin each day by ensuring your vehicle is fully equipped and ready for the day's tasks, which include: - Conducting detailed inspections at both commercial and residential sites to identify pest activity and devise appropriate treatment plans. - Applying effective pest control solutions while providing customers with practical advice on prevention and long-term protection. - Identifying hygiene and environmental risks to help create safer and healthier workplaces and homes for our clients. - Completing accurate digital service reports after each visit, ensuring thorough documentation and tailored recommendations. - Delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor during every interaction. - Staying attuned to customer needs and identifying opportunities to offer additional services that add genuine value. Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria: - A full New Zealand driver’s license with a clean driving record. - A clean criminal record. - Current residency in Nelson, New Zealand. - A genuine passion for the outdoors and an appreciation for our local environments. - Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain and grow client relationships. - A safety-first mindset with the ability to adhere to strict and evolving health and safety procedures. - Confidence in using an Android mobile phone and related applications. - Comfort working independently in the field, while also embodying a collaborative team spirit. - Willingness to travel long distances from Nelson and stay overnight when necessary. - Physical strength and capability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions. Desirable Skills and Experience - Previous knowledge of pest control methods and regulations. - A New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations (Level 3) Urban Pest Control. - Working at Heights and EWP licenses and experience. - A current NZ Firearm License. - The ability to drive a manual vehicle. Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment assessment, which includes medical, reference, and criminal background checks, meeting Rentokil Initial's satisfactory criteria.
