The Open Home Foundation (OHF) is a Christian community organization dedicated to ensuring that every child and young person has the opportunity to grow up in a secure and loving family. Our mission is to provide depth of care that will positively impact their lives. We are currently seeking to expand our team in Palmerston North, Manawatu.
About the Role
We are looking for a Social Worker to join our Manawatu Service Centre on a fixed-term basis for six months, with the possibility of extension. In this role, you will work closely with tamariki, rangatahi, whanau, and the broader community. We seek a candidate who shares our vision and is committed to promoting family well-being and cultural appropriateness in a strengths-based manner.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- A Social Work qualification with a minimum of three years of experience
- Registration with the Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) or eligibility for registration
- Knowledge and experience in Care and Protection Social Work
- Familiarity with The Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and its Family Court processes
- A strong understanding of the special relationship between Māori and Tauiwi, along with empathy for our organization’s values
- At least two years of experience, with a passion for:
- Care and protection social work and trauma-informed practice
- Supporting caregivers of tamariki and rangatahi
- A full New Zealand driver’s license is essential
- Alignment with the Open Home Foundation’s Christian Kaupapa
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary for this full-time position, ranging from $68,038 to $102,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
