We are currently seeking a dedicated HVAC Trade Assistant to join our dynamic team in Central Dunedin. About the Role In this position, you will work Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. You will have the chance to engage in a mix of residential and commercial projects, ensuring a varied workload that keeps your days interesting. We are looking for someone who is ready to start as soon as possible and contribute to our well-regarded Dunedin-based company. What we offer includes: - Long-term employment with immediate start - Competitive pay rates between $28 and $30 per hour, with potential for higher rates based on experience - Full personal protective equipment (PPE) provided - Ongoing support from the Tradestaff team - Kiwisaver, 8% holiday pay, and sick pay after six months of service Responsibilities As an HVAC Trade Assistant, your key responsibilities will include: - Assisting with the installation, maintenance, and servicing of various heat pump systems, including high-wall and ducted units - Supporting refrigerant pipework, wiring, testing, and commissioning in accordance with New Zealand standards - Working closely under the guidance of a senior technician and following all instructions - Adhering to site safety procedures and ensuring compliance with relevant New Zealand regulations Requirements We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: - A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience as a trade assistant, particularly in HVAC, engineering, or electrical work - A basic toolkit that includes some hand and power tools - Reliable transport and a valid driver’s license - A willingness to learn, along with a strong level of initiative - Physical fitness and comfort working in ceiling spaces and on ladders - Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer interactions - Two references Location The role is based in Dunedin, and applicants must currently reside in or be able to work in the Dunedin area.
