About the Role We are looking for a qualified and registered Housing Social Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide professional, empathetic, and effective services to individuals and families seeking long-term sustainable accommodation. Your responsibilities will include listening to clients, validating their stories and aspirations, and encouraging them to explore their challenges. You will work collaboratively to help them create solutions that promote sustained independence, guiding them in regaining control over their lives. Additionally, you will refer clients to both internal and external services aligned with their goals to achieve positive outcomes. It is essential that you ensure set outcomes are met and that your reporting reflects our practices. You will also be responsible for promptly recording client interactions and maintaining case notes. Connecting clients to Salvation Army services, such as Community Ministries and Corps, will be an important part of enhancing their current circumstances and meeting individual needs. Requirements Our ideal candidate will have: - A minimum of 2 years of relevant social work experience - A recognized Social Work Degree Qualification or equivalent - Full registration with the Social Work Registration Board - A clean, full driver's license - Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand - An understanding of and ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds, particularly those experiencing hardship, trauma, or mental health challenges - A commitment to engaging with clients and supporting their personal responsibility and motivation - The ability to adapt your approach to meet the needs and interests of different audiences - A proactive, solution-focused attitude, demonstrating maturity and empathy in problem-solving - Initiative in identifying professional development needs and seeking training opportunities in consultation with your line manager Benefits We offer a range of benefits to support your well-being and career growth, including: - An additional week of TSA leave annually - Free confidential counseling services - Subsidized flu vaccinations - Discounted medical insurance with Southern Cross - A TSA discount card for various retailers, including Beaurepairs, Noel Leeming, Placemakers, and Torpedo7 This is a full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The starting salary for this role ranges from $68,000 to $122,000 per year, which is covered by the pay equity agreement. Final remuneration will depend on the years of experience the preferred candidate brings to the role.
