About the Role
We are seeking a skilled technician to join our workshop, focusing on the maintenance and repair of heavy forklifts, reach stackers, and other critical materials handling equipment for our client in the rail industry. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that rail operations run smoothly through routine servicing and prompt response to breakdowns.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics
- Performing repairs on hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Utilizing our systems to order parts and maintain job records
- Communicating effectively with site contacts and ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Providing on-call support as part of a rotating roster
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Mechanical Trade Certificate or a similar qualification
- A minimum of three years’ experience working with heavy vehicles or plant equipment
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems
- A valid New Zealand driver’s licence; a forklift licence would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude
