About the Role
We are currently looking for two motivated Lead Software Engineers to join our dynamic Platforms team. These permanent positions offer an exciting opportunity to shape the technical direction of our projects while mentoring a skilled team.

Here is what you can expect from this role:
- Provide direct support to the Platforms team by collaborating on key projects.
- Actively contribute as a valued member of our supportive engineering community.
- Develop a long-term vision for the Koru team that aligns with our organizational strategies.
- Advocate for and implement engineering best practices, including coding standards, design principles, testing methodologies, and development workflows.
- Collaborate with Principal Software Engineers and Technical Product Owners to create and execute technical roadmaps.
- Communicate technical innovations effectively with product development teams.
- Contribute to our lightweight governance process by drafting and implementing Guardrails, Guidelines, Architectural Decision Records, and Tech Radar.
- Mentor engineers by offering guidance and objective feedback to support their career growth.
- Engage with software delivery teams to plan, develop, test, and release complex solutions.
- Work alongside the Technical Product Owner to manage and reduce technical debt, prioritizing effective solutions.
- Implement and maintain remediation plans for your platform's Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
What you will bring to our team:
- At least 5 years of experience in similar development roles.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies is preferred but not mandatory.
- A deep understanding of software development principles, architecture, design patterns, and modern technologies.
- Strong technical expertise in designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable applications.
- Proven ability to mentor and support junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
- Capacity to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, particularly under tight deadlines.
- Openness to adopting new tools and methodologies to enhance the platform's capabilities.
- Practical working knowledge of technologies and practices that align with Trade Me's technical strategy.
