About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join our team at Ward 5 North, Wellington Regional Hospital. Our ward is a 40-bed inpatient facility that is closely connected to the Cancer Day Ward, Radiation Oncology, and the Inpatient Haemodialysis Unit. We provide a range of specialist services, including chemotherapy delivery, apheresis, stem cell transplantation, and renal transplants, catering to medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology, and renal specialties.
Duties
In this role, you will assist patients with activities of daily living to help them maintain their independence. Your responsibilities will include restocking clinical supplies, maintaining a clean ward environment, and engaging in patient observation.
About the Team/Service Location
You will be working within a friendly and supportive team. We are looking for individuals who can communicate effectively and possess good written skills. Your role will involve supporting nursing staff and assisting patients with their daily living activities. If you are energetic, motivated, and possess strong communication skills, along with a NZQA Level 3 in Health and Wellbeing (or an equivalent qualification), we encourage you to apply.
About You
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Most importantly, you should be adaptable and able to navigate the continuously changing circumstances of the ward throughout your working day.
Requirements
- Level 3 NZQA National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or an equivalent qualification)
- Current NZ working visa/residency or NZ citizenship
- Experience in healthcare work is preferred
If you do not currently hold a Level 3 qualification, we are open to supporting the right candidate in completing this qualification as part of your contract. We will provide the necessary time and training for you to achieve your goals.
