About the Role
We are seeking an Allied Health Assistant to support our Allied Health Therapies team in delivering exceptional care to patients and their whanau across the hospital. In this role, you will work under the delegation and guidance of registered therapists. Your responsibilities will include assisting with therapy programs, helping patients practice functional activities, and ensuring the safe provision and setup of equipment.
This position is hands-on, varied, and rewarding. You will play a key role in patient rehabilitation, helping individuals regain their independence and confidence. You will develop strong working relationships across multiple teams, contribute positively to the patient journey, and help ensure our services run smoothly and effectively.
About the Team/Service/Location
You will join the Te Whata Moanarua Allied Health Therapies team, located at the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Our service encompasses physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, and other allied health specialties, all aimed at providing holistic and culturally responsive care to tangata whaiora. You will be part of a friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and delivering the best outcomes for our community.

About You
As an Allied Health Assistant, you will bring the following:
- A Level 4 Health and Disability qualification (or a willingness to complete this within two years)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and whanau
- A positive, proactive attitude along with effective problem-solving skills
- Confidence in working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet)
- A full, clean New Zealand driver’s license
- A commitment to culturally safe practice and a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Motivation to learn, grow, and develop your clinical skillset
