About the Role
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team as an Asset Inspector on a full-time and permanent basis at our Whakatane location. In this role, you will report to the Asset Inspection Lead and will be responsible for carrying out cyclic asset inspections and testing of Horizon Network's field assets, as outlined in our program of work.
Your duties will include proactively identifying assets that may pose safety or reliability concerns and documenting these using digital field devices. You will also be responsible for identifying defects and processing them according to our defect framework. Building and maintaining positive long-term relationships with our network, colleagues, landowners, and customers will be key to your success in this role.
Additionally, you will perform various ad-hoc tasks such as cable locating, high-load operations, field verification, and other duties aligned with the purpose of this role. Furthermore, you will participate in the development of Horizon Networks’ health, criticality, risk frameworks, and reporting systems.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence
- Qualified Linesman or Electrician
- Electrical Trade Certificate
- Current Manual New Zealand Driver's Licence
- Over five years of experience in electricity distribution is desirable, though not essential
- Experience in asset location and identification, including ground-mounted, overhead line, and cable locations
- Strong knowledge of relevant electricity industry rules, regulations, and best practices
- Familiarity with electricity distribution equipment (both low and high voltage)
- Proficiency in accurate field data entry using electronic devices such as tablets, mobile phones, or desktop computers
- Good computer literacy in Microsoft, iOS, and Android platforms
- Ability to accurately assess asset condition
- Physical fitness is essential, with the capability to navigate remote and rugged terrain by vehicle and on foot
