    Health and Safety Advisor - Event Operations We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of our events at Venues Otautahi. This hands-on position is situated within the dynamic and fast-paced events industry. It is a full-time, permanent opportunity as we prepare for the landmark opening of One New Zealand Stadium. About the Company At Venues Otautahi, we own the Christchurch Town Hall and Wolfbrook Arena and manage Apollo Projects Stadium, Hagley Oval, the Air Force Museum of New Zealand, and One New Zealand Stadium. Our venues host over 500 events annually in Christchurch and encompass a diverse and iconic portfolio of community venues. Our purpose is to strategically manage and leverage these venues to create positive social, cultural, environmental, and economic impacts in the region. These iconic city venues are essential to the Christchurch way of life, contributing to the economic prosperity and social well-being of our community. About the Role As the Health and Safety Advisor - Event Operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe delivery of all events hosted by Venues Otautahi. You will collaborate with our workforce, contractors, and clients across our managed venues. Reporting directly to the Head of Health, Safety, and Risk, this full-time, permanent position offers an exciting opportunity in the events industry. Flexibility is key, as the role operates within a seven-day event schedule, which may require shift work, evenings, and weekends to accommodate various events across our portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include: - Providing clear and competent technical advice and guidance to ensure our practices keep our people safe and comply with legislative obligations. - Ensuring that operations contractors adhere to their approved health and safety management plans and site-specific safety management plans. - Conducting thorough pre-event risk assessments to identify potential health and safety hazards associated with each event. - Developing comprehensive health and safety plans tailored to the specific requirements of each event. - Coordinating with various departments and vendors during events to ensure the execution of health and safety measures. - Establishing emergency response plans, including medical services, evacuation procedures, and communication protocols. - Post-event, identifying areas for improvement and developing recommendations for future events. - Managing a program of health, safety, and wellbeing audits, including food safety audits, to ensure compliance with legislation, company guidelines, and safety management plans. About You This is an exciting time to join Venues Otautahi, and the Health and Safety Advisor - Event Operations role is hands-on, reflecting the nature of all positions at our organization. The ideal candidate will possess: - One to two years of relevant experience in a similar role. - Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation. - Flexibility to work evenings and weekends in line with our dynamic event schedule. - Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. - Previous experience in the events industry is an advantage. - The ability to clearly identify problems, evaluate alternative solutions, assess risks and benefits, seek input, and make sound, informed decisions.
