About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial/Industrial Construction Project Manager who can seamlessly integrate into our team and contribute from day one. This role will focus on our design and build projects in Otago and Southland, overseeing them from the initial design phase through to completion. The position can be based in either Otago or Southland.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Construction Manager, Operations Managers, and onsite construction teams to ensure the successful execution of projects in the region. As a Calder Stewart Construction Project Manager, you will have the unique chance to work alongside our integrated property, design, and manufacturing teams, facilitating the efficient delivery of high-quality commercial and industrial design-build projects. Our market-leading design-build approach has established a robust pipeline of future work throughout New Zealand.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills and natural leadership abilities, along with a comprehensive understanding of New Zealand's commercial construction methods. Proficiency in MS Project and strong programming skills are essential. We are looking for a team player who remains calm under pressure, is solutions-focused, and refrains from placing blame.
Additional qualifications we seek include:
- A trade or tertiary qualification in construction management or quantity surveying is advantageous
- A minimum of 5 years' experience managing medium to large design-build commercial construction projects
- While primarily office-based, the role may require occasional travel to meet project needs
- Site-based experience in physical construction, with a background of working on the tools, is highly desirable
- Ability to interpret detailed construction plans and specifications
- Sound knowledge of NZS3910, 3915, and 3916 construction contracts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Project
- Experience with Procore project management systems
- Expertise in project administration, including document control, RFIs, and CIs
- Experience in project quality management and development of ITPs and Project Handover plans
- A high level of experience in using Microsoft Project to develop, monitor, and update detailed critical path construction programs
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
