Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and licensed plumbers with commercial experience to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the upcoming summer season. Our season runs from October 2025 to March 2026, with deployment expected around October. Exact return dates will be confirmed at a later stage.
About the Role
This opportunity is not for the faint-hearted; you will be staying for months in one of the most isolated yet beautiful places in the world.
As a plumber, you will be involved in a large commercial construction project that encompasses all aspects of plumbing work, including basic plumbing tasks and repetitive responsibilities. Teamwork is essential, as we are looking for hard-working individuals who are willing to pitch in and support one another on the job. A current New Zealand Plumbing Licence is required for this role.
Requirements
Please note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens holding New Zealand or US passports and currently residing and working in New Zealand may apply.
Additionally, candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. These positions are not ‘fly in fly out’; you will be on-site for an extended period, working long hours, six days a week. Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, your notice period, and ice flight availability.
You will also need to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, possess a Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence, and have a clean criminal record. The application process is lengthy, so patience is essential. Candidates may be required to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, with travel costs covered for those coming from outside the Bay of Plenty.
Benefits
We offer a competitive rate of $66.11 per hour, with contracts paid fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for a 54-hour work week. We provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. All PPE will be supplied.
While the work is demanding, the rewards are substantial. You will have the opportunity to save money while gaining invaluable experience and forming lasting friendships. If you have ever dreamed of working in Antarctica, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
