About the Role We are currently seeking a Maintenance Fitter/Engineer to join our dedicated team at Quality Bakers in Auckland. In this role, you will report to the Engineering Team Leader and be responsible for providing high-quality maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the plant. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the operational effectiveness of our facility. The shift pattern for this role is Day Shift: Sunday to Wednesday, starting at 6 AM. Key accountabilities of the role include: - Performing scheduled planned maintenance tasks and addressing unplanned maintenance issues, including breakdowns - Ensuring machinery and plant equipment are maintained for optimal performance - Conducting general mechanical repairs, including work on motors, conveyors, and other machinery - Maintaining accurate site engineering documentation and plant logs - Promoting factory quality and safety, striving for continual improvement in site safety standards - Assisting in site preparation for external and regulatory audits - Collaborating with the Engineering Manager to manage mechanical and electrical control hazards, ensuring timely resolution - Communicating all breakdowns to the Engineering Manager - Completing all preventative maintenance work compliant with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) - Providing timely and comprehensive reports to the Engineering Manager as needed Requirements The successful candidate will possess: - A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field - Proficiency in machine maintenance and welding - A solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety - Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis and timely breakdown resolutions - Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices, including machinery guarding - Experience in food and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing (desirable) - Experience working with conveyors, motors, sprockets, bearings, gears, and pneumatics Benefits Joining our team means becoming part of a group of professionals who genuinely enjoy collaborating, resulting in a flexible and supportive work environment.
