About the Role
We are looking for a Manual Handling Trainer to establish, develop, and maintain training programs focused on safe moving and handling practices. The primary objective of this role is to provide guidance to both management and staff in compliance with statutory requirements, quality standards, and injury prevention practices.
About the Team/Service/Location
As a Manual Handling Trainer, you will report directly to the Occupational Therapy Clinical Leader. You will also work closely with clinical leaders throughout the hospital, the Health and Safety Committee, and Quality and Risk teams, as well as moving and handling champions.
About You
We are seeking a health care professional, such as a Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, Physiotherapist, or Occupational Therapist, or a healthcare worker with relevant experience in a similar role. A qualification in ergonomics and moving and handling is essential, and having an adult teaching qualification along with relevant experience would be advantageous.
Key requirements include:
- Experience in developing and delivering moving and handling training programs, including equipment usage for all staff
- Knowledge of New Zealand legislation and familiarity with the NZ Patient Handling guidelines, as well as other relevant legislation (please refer to the position description for a complete list)
- Effective presentation and group facilitation skills, with a proven ability to coach and facilitate change
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
