About the Role We are currently seeking a Medical Registrar trainee, either advanced or basic, to join our accredited physician training programme at Whangarei Hospital for the 2026 training year starting in February 2026. Our program offers six months of advanced training in Geriatric Medicine and twelve months of advanced training in General Medicine, along with two years of basic medical training. Working closely with your Consultant, you will develop your skills and knowledge, learning about initial assessment and management, including selection for thrombolysis and clot retrieval. You will also attend a neurology clinic weekly. We are committed to providing close supervision for trainees in inpatient, community, and outpatient settings, alongside a strong focus on teaching. You will have the chance to mentor medical students from Auckland University, which will help you enhance your own teaching skills through an active clinical training programme that includes didactic sessions, interactive teaching, journal club, and videoconferencing of RACP lectures.
