About the Role
We are currently seeking a Casual Phlebotomist to join our team at Hawke's Bay Hospital. In this flexible position, you will play a vital role in collecting, labelling, and delivering blood samples for diagnostic testing. This role offers variety and autonomy, allowing you to gain experience across different clinical scenarios. You will be called upon as needed to support our Laboratory Services during staff absences or fluctuations in workload.
As a member of our patient-focused team, your attention to detail and interpersonal skills will contribute to the quality and efficiency of sample collection and care.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Laboratory Services team consists of a close-knit group of pathologists, scientists, and phlebotomists who work collaboratively to deliver accurate and timely diagnostic services. About You
As a successful candidate for the Casual Phlebotomist position, you will possess:
- Previous experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital or medical laboratory setting
- Proficiency in venepuncture and patient-centered sample collection
- Strong communication and time management skills
- High accuracy in labelling and handling samples
- An understanding of infection control practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Familiarity with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a willingness to develop in these areas
