About the Role
We are currently seeking an Afternoon Shift Warehouse Team Leader to join our team in Islington. This is a long-term, full-time position that presents opportunities for career progression. In this role, you will supervise a team of approximately 6-7 individuals, ensuring smooth operations in our loading area.
The role requires a hands-on approach, as you will be responsible for operating a forklift, loading trucks, and performing various general warehousing duties. Your leadership will be vital, as you will serve as the point of contact for your team on-site. The shift hours for this position are Monday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with the possibility of later hours and alternating Sundays from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Duties will include:
- Allocating resources effectively across the team
- Working in the loading area, which typically operates at around 4 degrees Celsius
- Leading and guiding the team in daily tasks
- Operating forklifts to load racked linehaul units and trucks
- Moving stock within the warehouse using multiple forklifts
- Picking and packing orders
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Stacking boxes in preparation for distribution
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Previous experience in people leadership and team management
- A valid forklift license
- At least one year of experience operating a forklift truck in a linehaul setting
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow and address any outstanding issues
- Proficiency in computer usage for documentation preparation
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in all tasks
- Self-motivated and proactive in your approach
- Ability to learn and adapt to new challenges
- Physically capable of handling lifting tasks
- A positive attitude and willingness to engage with the team
- Willingness to pass a pre-employment drug test
