About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist for a fixed-term position at Dargaville Hospital, working 32 hours per week until July 2026. In this role, you will provide essential services in community settings, adult rehabilitation, and mental health/recovery. You will support both inpatients and outpatients, helping individuals achieve their goals while promoting independence, safety, self-determination, and overall well-being for individuals and their families.
This position will primarily be based at Dargaville Hospital, with working hours scheduled from Monday to Friday. Please note that travel throughout the area will be required.
About the Team/Service/Location
Dargaville Hospital offers hospital-level and community care to the residents of Kaipara, featuring a 12-bed general ward and an 8-bed detoxification ward. Our facility is complemented by a variety of allied and community health services, in collaboration with other healthcare providers. About You
We are looking for a Registered Occupational Therapist with a current New Zealand practicing certificate. A full driver's license and Equipment Assessors Accreditation are also required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- A solid understanding of emotional and social issues affecting individuals, families, and the broader community.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to beginning this learning journey.
- Experience in projects or initiatives that align with Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, as well as the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly in healthcare settings.
While previous experience in a rural health setting is preferred, we encourage applicants with less experience but a keen interest in the field to apply.
